Frequently Asked Questions

Why do you cost more?
We charge the correct price to do the job properly. If it’s more than you were quoted by another company, you have to ask yourself a couple questions. Have they come out to take a look and give you a price in writing, or was it a “happy number” over the phone? Are they a reputable company? Is everything included in their price, or are there going to be hidden fees?

When House to Home Moving comes out to provide you with a free in-home estimate, the estimated price is the not to exceed price for the move. That means if it takes longer, you don’t pay more. You also get the same crew for your move no matter how many days it takes. House to Home Moving is also a direct shipment company. That means, no layovers, exact times for loading and unloading, exact pricing, and no worries.

What are your payment options?
We make it easy at House to Home Moving when it comes to paying the bill. We accept all forms of payment, including cash, check, all credit cards, VISA, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, cashier’s checks, and money orders. We can even bill communities or State and Government entities. Just let us know the need and we’ll work with you to get it taken care of as stress-free as possible.

What is your cancellation policy?
We typically require a $100.00 deposit on local jobs and half the cost of the move on long distance jobs. Once you schedule the move with us, we take the deposit and it comes off the move price at the time we collect payment. The deposits are non-refundable but can be used anytime within a calendar year. You won’t lose your deposit for changing dates.

Are your workers full-time movers, or seasonal or temp employees?
All our movers are employees of House to Home Moving. They are not from temp agencies, or 1099 employees. All our employees are under our workers compensation and all are paid through our payroll. We do not use day labor, only trained and qualified employees of House to Home Moving.

What type of insurance is included?
We provide free insurance as regulated by California for moving companies. The rate is $.60 per pound and is designed to aid in the repair or replacement of items that may be damaged from our movers. It does not include damage from our customers improperly packing boxes unless our movers caused the damage and it can be seen from a damaged box. Please contact us here for any claims.

Are there options for additional coverage?
There is additional insurance that can be purchased through House to Home Moving. Please contact the office for pricing.

Is there an additional fee for oversized items?
We do not charge extra for oversized items, but the hourly/flat rate price may increase due to more movers needed and more time it may take to move oversized items. Equipment needed may also cause for additional fees due to extra cost on our side to complete the move properly. All costs are discussed on the free in-home estimate we provide prior to the move date.

Are there surcharges for fuel?
We charge a 10% fuel fee when moves are over 20 miles but under 100 miles. Any move over 100 miles, is charged at a flat rate price, and all charges are accounted for.

Do you guarantee pickup and delivery dates?
YES. We guarantee exact times of arrival to load and arrival to the destination for the unload. We take a lot of pride in being a company that you can depend on.

What happens if you miss one or both?
If for any reason we are going to be late, we will call ASAP and let you know what happened and when we will be there. It doesn’t happen very often but sometimes emergencies do happen. Rest assured, you will be notified and kept in contact with House to Home Moving every step of the way.

How do you handle disputes and complaints?
We listen to the complaints, research the facts, talk to the employees involved, and find a solution that is reasonable for both parties. If damage happens, we refer customers to our claims department at [email protected]. Once the claim is received, we investigate accordingly and find the best solution.
